Pink and Green Twinkle Sampler Quilt
This beautiful quilt is a large version of the Twinkle Sampler Quilt. It is made with a dark green background and pink fabrics.
I knew I wanted to make this quilt with a dark background, but I had originally planned on a charcoal colour. But fabric stores were shut down when I was going to start making it, and I didn’t have enough charcoal fabric on hand.
I found this dark green fabric in my stash. I hesitated to use it because it was actually a wide back fabric and I like to save those for backing, obviously.
But as lock down went on, I didn’t know when I would be able to get to a fabric store. I thought about ordering online, but everyone was sold out of charcoal. This was in the early pandemic days when everyone was making masks and there were fabric shortages.

So I decided to go ahead and use the green. I am really happy with how it turned out. The green and pink combination is beautiful.
This quilt contains twenty 12″ blocks, laid out in a four by five layout.
The sashing is the same colour of the background, so it gives the blocks a floating look.

Each of these blocks are traditional star blocks, so this is a great project to practice half square triangles, flying geese and more.
There are nine different star blocks in all, so I made two or three of each block to get the total of twenty.

I quilted it with wavy vertical and horizontal lines in pink thread.
This is one of my go-to quilting designs. It is easier to do than straight lines, and if all the lines are wavy, it is clearly a design choice.
The pink cornerstones separate the blocks and add interest to the quilt.
