Purple and Teal “Not in Ohio Anymore” quilt
This fun quilt has two cascades of stars floating across the plain background.
The purple and teal version of the “Not in Ohio Anymore” quilt pattern is a beautiful example of simple modern quilting.

Design
The pattern “Not in Ohio Anymore” is inspired by the traditional Ohio Star quilt block.

But instead of a layout with blocks, the stars overlap in this modern setting. The design makes me think of a shooting star.
Fabric
The pattern includes two different options for fabric combinations, and this one is the six colour option.
I used three different teal batik fabrics and mixed them with pink and purple batiks. They shine nicely on the plain cream coloured background.

Quilting
Although this pattern has a lot of negative space that could be used for intricate free motion quilting designs, I chose to finish this quilt with straight line quilting. This was a quick and easy way to quilt it on my domestic machine.
The horizontal lines add an interesting effect and texture.
Binding
I used the background fabric for the binding, so it blends together.

Pattern
This pattern goes together quickly, even if quarter-square triangles are a new technique. With two colour options and two size options, there is a lot of opportunity to customize the pattern and make it again and again.
Enjoy making this modern quilt in your own colour combinations.
