Pink and Brown “Not in Ohio Anymore” quilt
This beautiful quilt is a modern interpretation of a classic favourite.
Two rows of overlapping pink stars cascade across a chocolate brown background in this version of the “Not in Ohio Anymore” quilt.

Design
This quilt pattern was inspired by the traditional Ohio Star quilt block, but it is not the usual layout. Instead of distinct blocks, the stars blend into each other.

Fabric
The quilt pattern has two different options, and this quilt shows the two-fabric option. The stars alternate between light pink and dark pink fabric.
The fabrics contrast with each other and the brown background.

Quilting
The negative space in the quilt offers a lot of opportunity for fancy quilting, but I quilted it with diagonal line walking foot quilting. This is an easy way to quilt it on a domestic machine.
The quilting lines echo the angle of the rows of stars to support the design of the quilt.
Binding
I bound the quilt with pink fabric, which gives it a little frame to finish it.

Size
The pattern has two different size options for the quilt. This one is the large size, so it finishes at 60″ x 80″.
That’s a nice size for a small bed.
Pattern
This quilt is a quick and easy project, even if you’ve never sewn quarter-square triangles before. It’s a great option if you need a last minute project.
Enjoy this modern quilt.
