How to Make a friendship Star mini window hanging
Friendship star is an easy quilt block that can be adapted to a quick mini window hanging project.
This little window hanging is about 11โ square, so it more like a sun catcher than a curtain. It is made with pojagi reversible patchwork, so it there are no raw edges.
Itโs a great way to add a quick piece of colour to a space, and is easy to customize. Because itโs small, inexpensive and portable, it is a great gift for someone in a hospital or care home.
The techniques in this project are different than patchwork for quilting, so be sure to read all the instructions carefully.

Make the Triangle Units

Cut a 5โ triangle off the corner of the 5โ x 6โ background piece and cut the 5โ star squares in half on the diagonal.

Join these pieces using a pojagi seam. (How to stitch the pojagi seam).

Trim this unit down to 5โ x 4โ
Assemble the block

Lay these pieces out with the squares to make a friendship star block. Double check the orientation of the triangles.

Join these pieces together into rows, then join the rows together to make the block.
Finish and hang

Hem each of the sides by folding over and top stitching.

Hang and enjoy!
It looks great hanging square or on point.
Pattern hack

If you want to make two stars that are negatives of each other, the triangles that are cut off the background pieces can be used as the stars. Then you donโt need to cut 5โ squares for the stars.
