5 Embroidery Stitches
These stitches are great choices for filling in all kinds of shapes.
The sample stitches are done with one strand of embroidery floss, but you can change the look by using different thicknesses of thread or more dense stitching.
1. Straight stitch

Basic straight stitch is a fun and easy stitch that looks like sprinkles.
See a detailed straight stitch tutorial here.
2. Seeding stitch

This stitch is made with pairs of parallel lines. It is often called seeding stitch or double seeding stitch.
3. Arrowhead stitch

Arrowhead stitch is just like it sounds. It is made up of two lines that join at one point to make an arrow or “v” shape.
4. Fern stitch

Fern stitch looks like little bird tracks.
5. Eyelets
Eyelets in surface embroidery are similar to eyelets in counted thread embroidery, but they don’t need to be as exact. You can make them different sizes and with different numbers of spokes.
