Epida Studio Quilt Along header image.

This summer, join the Epida Studio “Quilt”-Along!

During this time, you will make a project with reversible patchwork.
(Shhh – It’s not quilted, so don’t tell the quilt police!)

Your finished project will be only one layer of fabric. There is no backing fabric or lining required. The special pojagi seams are finished on both sides to give you something totally reversible.

These pieces can be used as curtains, table cloths, lightweight wraps, shawls and more! Use your imagination to create your own unique item.

The Pattern

During the “quilt” along, we will be using my pattern “One Block Four Ways”.

Like the name suggests, this pattern is for a single block that can be used in four different layouts. So this “quilt” along is a bit of a choose your own adventure.

Want to make a small piece with only one block? Great!

Want to make four blocks? Wonderful! – you can use those blocks to make a long item or a square item.

Want to make a large piece with twenty blocks? Amazing!

Want to design your with some other number of blocks? Go for it!

You can even make more than one project if you want – it’s totally up to you.

(Scroll to the bottom to see some sample projects).

About me

Elizabeth DeCroos.

My name is Elizabeth and I am a designer and teacher based in Ontario, Canada. I had the privilege of studying pojagi when I lived in Korea. The reversible seam technique used in this project is based on a traditional hand-stitched technique.

If you have any questions or would like information about me doing a lecture or workshop for your quilt guild, you can contact me here.

FAQ

How much does it cost to participate?

It is totally free to participate. All the information will be available in the YouTube videos.

However, if you don’t want to wait for the videos or would like something printable or would like to support my channel, you can purchase a downloadable pattern here.

How much time with this project take?

It all depends on what you decide to make.

The smallest options can be done in a few hours. The larger option will obviously take longer (days or weeks). It might also take longer if this is a new technique for you.

But just remember, this project is only piecing. Once that is done, the piece is done. It won’t go on your “to be quilted” pile.

How much fabric do I need?

Again, it depends on what size project you will make.

I will be discussing the different options one of the videos.

What type of fabric should I use?

This project can be done with any fabric.

In my samples you will see quilting cotton, batik, linen, silk and even upcycled knit from old sweatshirts. This is a great stash buster for whatever you have.

What is this technique?

These projects are all made with reversible pojagi patchwork. This is a technique in which the seams are finished on both sides so your piece is a single layer of fabric. All the details will be shared in the videos.

I can’t decide. What should I make?

If you can’t decide, then I recommend you start with making four blocks. When they are finished, you can decide if you want to make a square or a long piece. Either of those options can be used as a window hanging or a table topper.

I don’t want to receive emails every day. Can I still participate without signing up?

Of course you can. You can get all the information at my YouTube channel. (Be sure to subscribe while you are there)
