We are now firmly into 2019, but our family managed to spread Christmas out for quite a while. For our family dinner, I made these cloth napkins that fold into adorable trees.
They are very simple to make, as they are just a half-circle when opened. I made mine a tiny bit smaller than I originally planned, because I wanted to be able to cut four out of a fat quarter.
The trickiest part is getting the angles to fold, and I just had to play around with it to get it. Once I got the folds, I pressed with an iron to hold the creases. Now I just have to see how much memory the fabric will retain after washing.
I had a fat quarter bundle of Evergreen by Moda that I was saving for a special occasion, and this seemed to be a great project. I have more of the fabric, so I can make placemats and a table runner to coordinate. I’m sure I can use these at other times of the year besides Christmas, right?
