This week in the studio

There’s big news in the studio this week.  I got a loom!  I know I need a new hobby like I need a hole in my head (as my mom would say), but this was a Kijiji score.

A couple years ago, my son and I did a scarf weaving workshop and we both really enjoyed it.  Since then, I have been thinking about getting a small table loom.  I wasn’t in a hurry, since I have a lot of other projects on the go.  I put an alert on Kijiji so that anytime a loom was listed locally, I would see it right away.  I have been getting alerts for over two years, so I have a feel for what looms go for.

Two weeks ago, this listing came up.  At first I thought the price must be a mistake, but I contacted the seller and ended up with a full sized loom for half the price of a small table loom.  I had to rearrange my house, but I do have space for it.  Even if I turn out to not like it, I could easily sell it for more than what I paid.

After watching a lot of Youtube and a Craftsy class on weaving, I managed to get it warped and begin weaving.

It’s not perfect, but I think it will turn out okay.  Because of the location in my house, it’s convenient if I only have five minutes to fill.

I also continued on my Christmas pojagi projects.

And I’m practicing free motion quilting on another old project.

Have a great week!
